Cookie Policy
Last Updated: March 10, 2024
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how ValidEmailChecker uses them, and how you can manage your preferences. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which provides broader context on how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function properly, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the website operator. Cookies can be "session cookies," which are temporary and deleted from your device when you close your browser, or "persistent cookies," which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them manually. "First-party cookies" are set by the website you are visiting, while "third-party cookies" are set by an external domain, typically from services embedded in the website.
2. Our Approach to Cookies
ValidEmailChecker is built on a principle of minimal data collection, and our approach to cookies reflects that. We use only the cookies that are necessary to operate our service — to keep you logged in, to protect our platform from automated abuse, and to maintain your support chat conversations. If we introduce additional cookies in the future for any purpose, we will update this policy and ensure that any non-essential cookies require your explicit consent before being activated.
3. Cookies We Use
3.1 Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)
Essential cookies are required for the basic functioning of our service. Without them, the website and application cannot operate correctly. Because they are strictly necessary, these cookies do not require your consent under most privacy regulations, including the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive.
Authentication Cookies
When you log in to your ValidEmailChecker account at app.validemailchecker.com, our authentication system sets session cookies that maintain your logged-in state as you navigate between pages. These cookies contain an encrypted session token — they do not store your password, email address, or any personal information in readable form. They are first-party cookies set on the app.validemailchecker.com domain. They expire when your session ends (after 5 hours of inactivity) or when you explicitly log out. Without these cookies, you would need to re-enter your credentials on every page load.
Security Cookies
Our signup and login pages use Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection. During the verification process, Turnstile may set a temporary session cookie (such as _cfuvid) on the challenges.cloudflare.com domain. This cookie exists only for the duration of the challenge and is used solely to confirm that you are a real person. Turnstile is a privacy-preserving alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs — it does not track you across websites and does not build a profile of your behavior.
Additionally, because our domain routes through Cloudflare's network for DNS and security, Cloudflare may set a bot management cookie (such as __cf_bm) to distinguish legitimate visitors from malicious automated traffic. This cookie is classified as strictly necessary for security purposes and typically expires within 30 minutes. Cloudflare's cookies are governed by their own privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
3.2 Functional Cookies
Live Chat
Our customer support live chat is powered by Chatwoot, which we host entirely on our own servers at desk.validemailchecker.com. When you interact with the chat widget, a session cookie named _chatwoot_session is set on the desk.validemailchecker.com domain. This cookie preserves your active chat conversation so that if you navigate to a different page or refresh your browser, your chat history remains intact. Because Chatwoot is self-hosted, this cookie never transmits data to any third party. It is a session cookie and is deleted when you close your browser.
4. How to Manage Cookies
4.1 Cookie Consent
Our website displays a cookie consent notice that informs you about the cookies we use. Essential cookies — those required for authentication, security, and core functionality — cannot be disabled, as the service cannot function without them. Non-essential cookies, if present, will only be activated with your explicit consent, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.
4.2 Browser Controls
All modern web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can configure your browser to block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, receive a notification before a cookie is set, or delete all cookies when you close the browser. Please note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in to and using the ValidEmailChecker application.

Apple Safari: support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/safari/sfri11471/mac
Microsoft Edge: support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge
5. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that the user not be tracked. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. ValidEmailChecker respects your privacy preferences, and our use of cookies is limited to those described in this policy regardless of your DNT setting.
6. Cookies and International Users
If you are located in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive regarding cookies. These regulations require us to obtain your informed consent before setting non-essential cookies and to clearly inform you about essential cookies — both of which this policy does. If you are located in Canada, cookie usage is governed by PIPEDA and the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which require transparency and, in certain cases, consent. This policy is designed to meet the requirements of all applicable jurisdictions.
Regardless of where you are located, our commitment is the same: we are transparent about the cookies we use and we respect your right to control your browsing experience.
7. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever we add, remove, or change the cookies we use. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If we introduce new categories of cookies, we will provide notice through our website and ensure that you have the opportunity to consent before any non-essential cookies are set. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
8. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Cookie Policy or about the cookies we use, You can reach us by email at support@validemailchecker.com, or by using our contact form or live chat at any time.
