How to Connect Campaign Monitor
One API key, three clicks, and you are verifying.
Find Your API Key
Log into Campaign Monitor. Click your profile icon in the top right, then select Account settings. In the left sidebar, click API & integrations. You will see your API Client ID and API Key. If you do not have an API key yet, click Generate API key. Copy the API Key — not the Client ID.
Important: Copy the API Key, not the API Client ID. They are different fields. The API Key is the authentication token that grants access.
Connect Your Account
In ValidEmailChecker, go to Integrations and click + Connect Integration. Select Campaign Monitor, enter a friendly connection name, paste your API Key, and click Connect Account. We verify your key instantly and pull in your lists. If you manage multiple Campaign Monitor accounts, connect them all — just give each a unique name.
Select a List and Configure
Once connected, you will see all your Campaign Monitor lists with subscriber counts. Select the list you want to verify, then choose Verify Only to review results without changes, or Clean Automatically to remove invalid and disposable emails directly from Campaign Monitor. You control what happens to each email type — unsubscribe, delete, or keep.
Tip: Automatic cleaning cannot be undone. Start with "Verify Only" on your first run to review results.
Track Results in Real Time
Click Start Verification and you will be redirected to the Uploads & Results page. Progress updates automatically — no refreshing needed. When complete, you get a full breakdown of safe, invalid, risky, disposable, catch-all, and more. If you chose automatic cleaning, changes are already applied to your Campaign Monitor list.

Connection Actions

Sync Now
Refresh lists and subscriber counts.
Rename
Change the connection display name.
Delete
Remove connection. Does not affect Campaign Monitor.
Updating your API key? If you regenerate your key in Campaign Monitor, delete the existing connection in ValidEmailChecker and create a new one with the new key.

Managing campaigns for different clients or brands? Connect as many accounts as you need.
Go to Bulk Upload → Connect Email Platform → Campaign Monitor

Unsubscribe vs Delete
List Segments
The integration imports your main Campaign Monitor lists. Segments are included in the main list import. For segment-specific verification, export that segment as CSV and use bulk upload.
Transactional vs Marketing
Both transactional and marketing lists appear in the list selector. Make sure you select the correct list type for verification to avoid cleaning the wrong list.
Troubleshooting
"Invalid API Key" Error
Make sure you copied the full API Key — not the API Client ID. Check for extra spaces before or after the key. Verify your Campaign Monitor account is active. If needed, generate a new API key in Campaign Monitor.
Lists Not Showing
Click Sync Now to refresh. Make sure your lists have at least one subscriber and that you are using an API key from the correct Campaign Monitor account.
Subscribers Not Updating After Cleaning
Campaign Monitor updates can take a few moments. Wait 2–3 minutes, refresh your Campaign Monitor list, and check the verification results page for any errors.

No. Once emails are unsubscribed or deleted from Campaign Monitor through automatic cleaning, the action cannot be reversed through ValidEmailChecker. You would need to restore them manually. Start with "Verify Only" first if you are unsure.
The API Client ID is an identifier for your account. The API Key is the authentication token that grants access. You need to paste the API Key — not the Client ID — into ValidEmailChecker. The key is found in Account Settings → API & integrations.
