How do I select a specific Klaviyo list to verify?

Last updated May 20, 2026Integrations

Klaviyo organizes contacts (called Profiles in Klaviyo-speak) into Lists and Segments. Valid Email Checker reads both shapes through the Klaviyo API and surfaces them in a single searchable picker. Private API key setup and required scopes are in the Klaviyo integration guide.

Opening the picker

  1. Open Integrations in the VEC sidebar.
  2. Find the Klaviyo row in Connected Integrations.
  3. Click the three-dot menu and pick Sync Now.
  4. A modal opens with the Klaviyo logo, the connection name, and the list picker.
  5. Pick exactly one row.

What appears in the picker

  • Lists — manually created or imported subscriber groups.
  • Segments — dynamic, filter-defined Profile groups (e.g., "Engaged 90 days", "Active customers", "Cart abandoners").
  • Profile counts — pulled live from Klaviyo.
  • Search field — filters by name in real time.

Both list and segment types show their profile counts alongside the name. Segments are the right pick for ongoing hygiene because their membership is filter-defined and the count covers exactly the profiles you care about (engaged, recent, high-value, etc.).

Sizing the cost

The credits-needed line at the bottom of the modal uses the Klaviyo profile count. Duplicate removal (on by default) lowers the actual spend. Unknown-status results are refunded automatically after verification. A 100,000-profile segment typically costs 90,000-95,000 credits in practice.

Engaged-only segments are the cost-efficient pick
For Klaviyo accounts with large profile bases, segments like "Engaged in last 90 days" are far cheaper to verify than the All Profiles meta-list. Long-stale profiles do not need re-verification every month. Pair with the cleanup defaults in the action-options FAQ.

Refreshing list data

Click the refresh icon at the top of the modal. VEC re-queries Klaviyo and updates profile counts in place. Useful after creating new segments, importing profiles, or editing segment filters.

After picking the list

Choose Verify Only (default — Klaviyo untouched) or Clean List Automatically. Verify Only is recommended for first-time runs on any new segment. Hit Import List, and you are redirected to Uploads & Results to track progress.

Troubleshooting

  • Segment missing — your Klaviyo API key might be the Public Key (read-only on certain scopes). Use a Private API Key with Profiles Read/Write and Lists Read scopes.
  • Empty picker — the Klaviyo account has no Lists or Segments yet.
  • Profile count zero on a Segment — the Segment's filter rules currently match no profiles. VEC blocks the Import button to save a wasted call.
